The Rare Book Collection

godbit2The Rare Book Collection consists of a number of collections of material in the Department of Special Collections. The University of Bergen Library is a continuation of the old Bergen`s Museum`s Library, whose book collections mainly have been incorporated in the Rare Book Collection. Later gifts and donations as well as collecting efforts by the museum and library staff means that the Rare Book Collection now is in possession of significant collections of antiquarian interest.

In addition to a range of old book collections of great bibliophile value, the Collection consists of diplomas, maps and manuscripts, including the Nordland Trade Archives for Bergen and archives by several signatories to the Norwegian Constitution. Original newspapers as well as on microfilm can also be accessed here.

To access material from the Rare Book Collection: pre-order by e-mail or telephone. The Collection`s material can normally only be accessed in the Reading Room.
